Amy Hunt was one of the biggest stars of the Birmingham 2026 European Athletics Championships this summer after being the first athlete in history to take four golds at one championship.
But here are 10 things you may not know about Great Britain’s Amy Hunt.
Graduated from Cambridge University
After winning silver over 200m at the Tokyo 2025 World Athletics Championships, Hunt declared “you can be an academic badass and track goddess.”
This statement highlighted to the world her academic achievement of graduating from Cambridge University, one of the world’s most elite universities, in 2023 with an English Literature degree.
Based in Italy
The British sprinter moved to Padua, a city in norther Italy, not long after graduating from Cambridge and is coached by Marco Airale.
Based just 40km west of Venice, Hunt tries to fit visiting museums and exhibitions in around her packed training schedule.
Previous world record holder
Hunt had a stellar junior career, including taking the Boras 2019 European Athletics U20 Championships gold over 200m and in the 4x100m.
But earlier that summer she also broke the world U18 200m record when she ran 22.42, which she held record until 2023 when British Virgin Islands’ Adaejah Hodge stormed to 22.33.
YouTube star
Through her YouTube channel, Hunt brings fans along with her to races and training, giving an insight into the life of an elite athlete.
She’s built a platform of more than 8000 subscribers since starting the channel in November, with her first video being an action packed vlog from the Tokyo 2026 World Athletics Championships.
Green tea lover
Throughout her vlogs Hunt is not shy in showcasing her love for green tea, with it making frequent appearances in her day to day life.
As a Brit it’s quite normal to have a healthy tea obsession, but for Hunt it’s not British staples PG Tips, Tetley or Yorkshire tea that she’s after.
Look good, feel good
To perform at their best, athletes need to feel at their best and for Hunt part of that pre-competition routine involves getting ready.
From carefully selecting her race kit and accessories, to doing her makeup, it’s all part of what makes the Brit feel ready to compete.
Historic four golds
At the Birmingham 2026 European Athletics Championships, Hunt became the first athlete to win four golds in a single edition of these championships.
She took gold in the 100m, 200m, women’s 4x100m and mixed 4x100m to make history.
Channelling Sharpay Evans
Ahead of the Birmingham 2026 European Athletics Championships, Hunt made her intentions clear that she wanted to win four gold medals with her reference to High School Musical icon Sharpay Evans.
“I think to quote Sharpay Evans [character from High School Musical] I want it all,” Hunt said.
She’s a girl’s girl
After taking gold in the women’s 4x100m in Birmingham, when asked about herself she deflected and shone the light on her teammates Dina Asher-Smith, Imani Lansiquot, and Success Eduan.
“This girl [Asher-Smith] on my right, she’s the most decorated European athlete in history,” Hunt said. “This girl [Eduan] is a midwife, she brings new babies into the world.
“This girl [Lansiquot] wrote a play, we’re all amazing.”
Learning Italian
Hunt has been learning Italian and there is no better place to learn than in Italy itself!
She revealed to the The Times in 2024 that part of her motivation to learn Italian was to be able to read Giovanni Boccaccio’s The Decameron in its intended language.
