Final entries for the Birmingham 2026 European Athletics Championships from 10-16 August have been published and can be found below.
The entry-list features 10 reigning world champions from Tokyo 2025: Isaac Nader (1500m), Jimmy Gressier (5000/10,000m), Armand Duplantis (pole vault), Mattia Furlani (long jump), Pedro Pichardo (triple jump), Daniel Ståhl (discus) and Leo Neugebauer (decathlon) in men’s events and Femke Broeders-Bol (400m hurdles but contesting the 800m), Ditaji Kambundji (100m hurdles) and Maria Perez (20km and 35km race walk but contesting the half marathon race walk) in women’s events.
In addition, the entry-list includes reigning Olympic champions Jakob Ingebrigtsen (5000m), Duplantis (pole vault) and Miltiadis Tentoglou (long jump) on the men’s side and Keely Hodgkinson (800m), Yaroslava Mahuchikh (high jump) and Yemisi Mabry (shot put) on the women’s side along with the Netherlands in the mixed 4x400m.
Ingebrigtsen, Duplantis and Tentoglou are all targeting their fourth successive European titles in their respective events while Mahuchikh and Hodgkinson will be targeting a hat-trick of titles in the high jump and 800m respectively.
The oldest registered athlete for the championships is veteran Portuguese race walker Joao Vieira (20 February 1976) who competes in the first edition of the half marathon race walk and the youngest athlete is Greek sprinter Apostolia Antonatou (28 December 2009) who has been selected for the women’s 4x100m.
At the 2024 European Athletics Championships in Rome, hosts Italy topped the medal table with 11 gold medals and 24 medals in total ahead of France, Great Britain & NI, Norway and Switzerland, all of whom won four gold medals apiece.
