Olympic champion Markus Rooth will attempt his first decathlon since winning gold in Paris two years ago at the) Decastar event in Talence, France on 18-19 September.
The Norwegian has competed infrequently since his stellar year of 2024.
A training accident that resulted in knee and elbow injuries has limited him to a mini combined events competition at the 2025 Bislett Games (110m hurdles, javelin and long jump), a pole vault competition in Athens last year and two domestic discus competitions this year.
He is now set to make a return to elite competition in a field that also includes his compatriot Sander Skotheim, the 2025 world indoor and European indoor heptathlon champion, Tokyo Olympic champion Damien Warner and his fellow Canadian Pierce LePage, the 2023 world champion.
The women’s multi-event at the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting also features a significant return, with three-time Olympic and European champion Nafissatou Thiam taking part in her first heptathlon of the year. She will be joined by Belgian teammate Noor Vidts, who won bronze at the Paris Olympic Games.
The field also includes Germany’s Vanessa Grimm and Great Britain’s Niamh Emerson.
