The two-time European champion, Kristjan Čeh, throws a massive 72.56m to win the Vilnius Mayor’s Cup in close rival Mykolas Alekna’s home ground.
In 2026 Čeh has shown his dominance and consistency, with this competition marking his 10th over 70 metres this year.
He beat world record holder, Alekna, in front of the Lithuanian’s home crowd as he threw 69.30m after only starting his season in June due to tearing a pectoral muscle in the spring.
The Slovenian giant had three throws in his series beyond 70 metres, and his best mark fell just six centimetres shy of his best throw from Ramona earlier this year, a location many discus throwers enjoy due to favourable wind conditions.
Showing such consistency over the 70 metre mark in many different conditions, windy or not and in stadia or not, shows Čeh has more potential than we have seen so far.
The Netherlands’ Shaquille Emanuelson threw 65.67m for fourth, while his countryman Ruben Rolvink threw 62.54m for fifth, and Martynas Alekna came sixth with 59.18m.
