Do you know a young person who would love to volunteer at the Birmingham 2026 European Athletics Championships this August?
Birmingham 2026 is recruiting more than 100 volunteer kit carriers who will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be at the heart of the action at the Alexander Stadium.
Applicants must be:
- Nominated by an adult over the age of 18
- Aged between 14-17 years old on 1 July 2026
- Available every day from Saturday 8 August until Sunday 16 August

Once-in-a-lifetime chance
Team GB Olympic and World Championship medallists Lina and Laviai Nielsen (pictured), who are set to compete at Birmingham 2026, began their athletics journeys as kit carriers at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Lina said: “We got into athletics because the London 2012 Olympics came to our borough, and we got the chance to volunteer.
“We were so lucky to be on the track as kit carriers and to feel the energy and see the athletes up close and personal, we decided then and there we wanted to pursue track and field.”
Laviai added: “We definitely encourage anyone considering volunteering to apply and get involved for a once in a lifetime chance to gain valuable experience and have a lot of fun too!”
