Renowned experts of the sport such as Bronislavs Konstantinovičs, Elmo Nüganen, Ludmila Olijare, Aleksander Tammert and Jaanus Kriisk shared their experiences at the conference with the theme 'Secret for athletics longevity'. The conference was a part of the European Athletics Coaching Summit Series.
'The main idea of the conference was to discuss different ways of guiding an athlete to the top and the role and knowledge of a modern-day leading coach. We also discussed pros and cons of parent-child, coach-student relationships in the coaching process and the components of athletics longevity: patience, analysing capability, belief in oneself and following the right way; and a wise and patient coach,' said Kriisk, the main organiser of the conference.
Estonia's Tammert, an Olympic bronze medallist in discus throw and a five-time Olympian, analysed his long career including son-father and student-coach relationships, education in the USA, training under the guidance of coach Dave Wollmann and learning from more experienced athletes such as Lithuanian legend Virgilijus Alekna.
Latvian gymnastics coach and Riga Gymnastics School principal Konstantinovičs showed how to develop an athlete's body harmonically. All the presentations at the conference were made in English.
