2024 European Athlete of the Year Armand Duplantis won two awards at the Idrottsgalan, the Swedish Sports Gala, on Monday (20) evening.
The 25-year-old was crowned Swedish Sportsman of the Year for the fifth time in his career and his spectacular world record clearance of 6.25m at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games also earned him the Achievement of the Year accolade.
Duplantis amassed an unbeaten season in 2024, breaking his world record three times in total. He also won his third European outdoor title in Rome with a championship record of 6.10m and also defended his world indoor title in Glasgow.
“You never get used to this. Maybe a little used to it,” Duplantis joked when he accepted the award.
"It feels very special, big thanks to my loved ones, my parents who coach me. It's the same group as it has been from the beginning. There are so many people who support me here and I don't get it, really. It's hard to understand. I think I'm a pretty good person, but you give me so much love that it's unbelievable.
"You who were there at the Olympics, it gave me so much push, and there were so many Swedes and so many Swedish flags there, it means everything to me," said a grateful Duplantis from the stage.
Duplantis is due to open his indoor season at the ISTAF Indoor in Berlin on 14 February.
