Helsinki 2012 have unveiled their app for this summer’s European Athletics Championships. In cooperation with Fonecta, the app, named ‘Appy’ like the event mascot, was released for download. With the release of Appy comes the start of a new European Athletics Championships experience.
The app will provide live competition results, along with athlete profiles and the latest event news. In addition to all these functions, daily competitions will be posted for you to enter along with race day pictures and local information. Appy will bring a whole new experience for those wanting to stay up to date with the European Athletics Championships this year.
“The European Athletics Championships will be in Helsinki from 27 June to 1 July for five days, and we are expecting around 150,000 people. Appy is designed not only for the competition visitors, but also TV viewers. This data allows you to be an expert of the games from afar,” said Helsinki 2012 general secretary Esa Honkalehto.
The application can also help you find local taxi numbers, and can even help you locate the closest restaurants. In addition to this, Appy also provides direct links to the European Athletics Championships’ official partners.
“Take advantage of Fonecta’s osuma.fi information service that can be found on Appy. Osuma.fi acts as a local directory allowing you to find and locate a multitude of services around Helsinki,” said Fonecta’s Vesa-Pekka Kirsi.
Appy is ready to go
If you are looking for information on the European Athletics Championships, then you will be happy to hear that the application is available to download now. Appy promises to keep you up to date with current news and official partner offers directly to your smartphone.
The application is a free service. It can be downloaded to your iPhone (App store), android phone (Google Play) and Window7 phone (Market place). The service can also be used with phones that have access to the internet at m.helsinki2012.fi. The application is offered in both Finnish and English.
During the European Athletics Championships you can find Appy assistants throughout the Helsinki Olympic Stadium who can provide you with any guidance if required.
