European Athletics is deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, which resulted in the loss of life.
Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those affected by this shocking incident, as well as with the local community at this time of grief.
European Athletics President Dobromir Karamarinov said: “We are profoundly saddened by the news from Crans-Montana. On behalf of European Athletics, I would like to express our deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives, and to the wider community affected by this tragic event.”
European Athletics Chief Executive Officer Christian Milz added: “This is a deeply distressing moment, and our thoughts are with all those impacted. We stand in solidarity with the people of Crans-Montana and the Swiss community as they mourn.”
European Athletics Head Office is in Lausanne where many of the injured were treated. Out of respect for those affected, European Athletics will make no further comment at this time.
