Great Britain’s Jake Odey-Jordan broke the European U20 100m record at the Nike Outdoor Nationals in Eugene, Oregon on Saturday (21).
Odey-Jordan stopped the clock at 10.01 (+1.3) to shave 0.03 off Christophe Lemaitre’s previous European U20 100m record which was set at the 2009 European Athletics U20 Championships.
The 18-year-old has broken the 10 second-barrier twice this year already albeit with illegal following winds. His 9.94 clocking in Gainesville in April was the fastest time by a European U20 in history in all conditions.
Odey-Jordan’s main target this summer will be the World Athletics U20 Championships which also take place in Eugene from 5-9 August.
At the age of 16, Odey-Jordan won bronze in the 200m and silver in the 4x100m at the 2024 edition in Lima, Peru.
