Multiple European, world and Olympic medallist Fiona May will share her expertise in horizontal jumps at a coaching clinic in Helsinki on 26 June, a day ahead of the start of the 2012 European Athletics Championships in the Finnish capital.
With a medal collection that includes two world championship titles, two Olympic medals and two European medals, May remains a sought after authority in her discipline. The clinic aimed at developing women's long and triple jump skills, will help budding athletes from Finland to grow.
'It is really great to be returning to Helsinki, the place where I won my first bronze medal at the 1994 European Championships. I am really excited to share my knowledge and experiences with the young jumpers and their coaches. I also might be able to watch some of the European Athletics Championships at the Olympic stadium whilst I'm around,' said May.
May grew up in the UK and competed for Great Britain, before moving to Italy after her marriage in 1994. At 42, May has been retired from long jumping for seven years now. She has remained a high-profile figure in her adopted homeland, winning the Italian version of Dancing with the Stars and playing the lead
role in a TV drama series called Butta la Luna.
