European Athletics is saddened to learn of the death of twice Olympian and former European Athletics Council Member Georgios Marsellos, aged 89 on Tuesday (4).
He competed at the 1960 and 1964 Olympic Games in the 110m hurdles, including being the flag bearer for Greece at the opening ceremony of Tokyo 1964.
He also represented Greece at the 1958 and 1962 European Athletics Championships and won titles at the Balkan Championships and Mediterranean Games.
He was a member of the European Athletics Council from 1983-1987 and was President of the Greek Athletics Federation (SEGAS) from 1975-1982.
