Germany's Betty Heidler is the dominant force in women's hammer throwing at the moment and, after her victory at the German Championships at the weekend, the world record holder is now unbeaten in 12 competitions stretching back to the 2011 World Championships, where she got a silver medal.
She also triumphed at the 2010 European Athletics Championships and 2007 World Championships.
European Athletics spoke to Heidler recently about her preparations ahead of the defence of her title and her view of how the competition at this year's European Athletics Championships in Helsinki could unfold.
