There’s not much event organisers can do to support visiting and home athletes in their preparations outside of the training track and accommodation provisions. Channelling the renowned Brummie hospitality, though, Birmingham 2026 is going one step further in supporting athletes to feel their best.
Every athlete taking part in the Birmingham 2026 European Athletics Championships is being given free access to AirTrack Premium, an app providing air quality and exposure insights from Air Aware Labs, which will help them feel confident in their choice of where and when to train.
The Air Aware Labs AirTrack platform offers air quality and pollen insights that track your pollution exposure and help you breathe cleaner, perform better, and stay healthy by offering specific, real-time and hyper-local insights to your location and activity. You can then use these insights to plan your routes, adjust your outdoor exercise times and avoid high-exposure areas and times.
We know that air quality impacts health, and we also know our athletes want to train in the best, most pleasant conditions. By offering all athletes competing at Birmingham 2026 AirTrack Premium, they will be able to access personalised information about the air quality where they are and what their exposure levels have been to help them make informed choices.
Spectators at the Championships will also be able to make use of air quality checks, as Air Aware Labs are providing daily updates of the air quality around Alexander Stadium which will be displayed on the big screens in the stadium.
