As the
31 May deadline approaches, entries for the 2010 European Athletics Innovation
Awards and its 10,000 CHF first prize have begun to arrive at the European
Athletics head office in Lausanne.
Those entries arriving by the deadline will be judged by a European Athletics
appointed jury, led by Council member Sylvia Barlag (NED), and the first prize
will be presented at an awards ceremony during the European Athletics
Convention in Novi Sad in October.
Entries in five categories - Coaching, Technology, Promotion, Open, and the
newest category Sustainability - will be assessed for their quality and
relevance to athletics.
The winning project in 2008, selected from a record entry of 22 from 14 countries,
was called 'Hamstring Muscle Strain in Sprinters,' which was submitted by colleagues
Carl Askling and Alf Thorstensson of Sweden.
The competition is open to all Europeans.
