Isaac Kimeli, Andy Vernon, Fionnuala McCormack and Louise Carton headline the field of runners competing in the 24th edition of the Brussels Iris CrossCup, a European Athletics Cross Country Permit Race held on Sunday 18 December.

Kimeli won the under-23 race at the SPAR European Cross Country Championships in Chia, Italy, confirming all his excellent results from last autumn. He will be up against several of Belgium’s top cross country runners, with Souffiane Bouchiki, 14th in Chia, Jeroen D’Hoedt and youngsters Simon Debognies and Dieter Kersten who were part of the silver medal winning under-23 team in Chia.

His strongest adversary will most certainly be Great Britain’s Andy Vernon who finished fifth in the senior men's race on Sunday and was part of the British gold medal winning team.

Louise Carton will be hoping for a strong performance in the women's race after a disappointing result at Euro Cross. She will have to cope with Fionnuala McCormack who won in Brussels last year and was fifth in Chia. Dutch runner Maureen Koster and former European cross country champion Annemari Sandell-Hyrvarinen of Finland are also entered to compete.
