Estonian javelin thrower Magnus Kirt and British long jumper Lorraine Ugen were voted male and female European Athletes of the Month for July.
Kirt scored a trio of excellent wins in July, including victory ahead of Olympic champion Thomas Rohler and German champion Andreas Hofmann in the Rabat Diamond League where he extended his Estonian record to 89.75m. He also won in Luzern with 85.42m and won the Estonian title with 88.28m, his final competition before the European Championships.

Kirt was the overwhelming winner of this month’s vote, totalling more than 1300 likes and 231 shares across Facebook.
On the women’s side, Lorraine Ugen edged out two-time world high jump champion Mariya Lasitskene in the voting by 23 votes across Facebook and Twitter. Ugen began her month in excellent form, winning the long jump at the British Championships with a world-leading mark of 7.05m.
