Dutchwomen Lieke Klaver and Nadine Visser are two of the standout names due to compete in the Meeting Metz Moselle Athlelor, a World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver meeting, on 8 February.
This meeting will be streamed live on the European Athletics website in the build-up to the Apeldoorn 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships from 6-9 March when Klaver and Visser will be targeting yet more medalware.
Klaver is due to contest both the 200m and 400m in Metz and the world and European indoor 400m silver medallist is due to face a strong cast over the latter distance including Ireland’s European mixed 4x400m relay champion Sharlene Mawdsley, double Olympic relay medallist Laviai Nielsen and European 400m hurdles silver medallist Louise Maraval.
In the 200m, Klaver is due to go head-to-head with Australia’s rising sprinting prospect Torrie Lewis.
Visser provided one of the highlights at last year’s meeting in Metz, winning the 60m hurdles in a meeting record of 7.80, only 0.03 shy of her lifetime best of 7.77 which she set when winning her second European indoor title in Torun 2021.
Another winner from that edition of the European Athletics Indoor Championships Ajla Del Ponte from Switzerland is also due to contest the 60m in Metz.
Isaya Klein Ikkink and Eugene Omalla, both of whom were part of Netherlands’ gold medal-winning team in the mixed 4x400m, face Switzerland’s Lionel Spitz and Ricky Petrucciani in the 400m.
