Six female ERACOM students have submitted original proposals for an artwork prize, copies of which will be given to the national winners of the awards.
'Our idea is to recognise each national winner with the same piece of art, which will symbolically link the winners and create an elite club or network,' says Christian Milz, Director General of European Athletics.
'Working with ERACOM students and seeing athletics and women leaders through their eyes brings a new dimension to the awards and it helps us to take our sport to new audiences. I would like to thank all those who participated in the contest for their efforts and their great ideas.'
'Projects that go beyond the confines of day to day academic work are essential for each student's learning experience', says Phillip Pulfrey, the Pedagogical Advisor to the Multi-Media Department at ERACOM, who coordinated the entries.
'This project has been a great motivator. It has exposed the students an unusual client and given them a chance to design something that will be used in the real world.'
Final selection of the artwork to be used for the Women's Leadership Awards prize will be made by European Athletics. The awards will be given at the European Athletics Awards Dinner presented by Mondo in Budapest, Hungary, on 17 October 2009.
The proposals submitted are shown below with the artists' names.
