With the European Athletics Indoor Championships set to take place in Apeldoorn from 6-9 March media interest is surging, highlighting the event’s significance in the athletics calendar. A total of 234 media representatives have been approved to cover the competition, reflecting strong demand from both written and broadcast outlets.

Press Coverage and Photography

The championships will see extensive coverage from 87 members of the written press and 37 digital press representatives, ensuring comprehensive storytelling across multiple platforms. Additionally, 92 photographers will be in attendance, capturing every moment of the action.

European Athletics has also accredited nine Member Federation Press Liaisons, allowing national federations to maintain direct communication with their athletes and media back home. The number of non-rightsholder media present stands at nine, reinforcing interest even beyond official broadcasters.

Broadcast Reach

The event will enjoy substantial live and recorded coverage, with a take-up of 17 television commentary positions, four radio commentary positions and 11 mixed-zone positions.

Major broadcasters across Europe have committed to providing coverage, including BBC, ARD (Germany), SVT (Sweden) and NOS (Netherlands) among others. Host broadcaster NOS will have a studio position, as will Poland’s TVP, providing in-depth analysis and reporting throughout the event.

The championship’s radio presence is also notable, with Czech Radio, RTÉ Sport (Ireland) and NRK (Norway) among the outlets bringing the action to listeners across Europe.

Unprecedented Interest and Final Adjustments

While 234 media representatives have been approved, 25 applications remain pending, and six have been rejected, showing the high level of demand for accreditation. The final media list will be confirmed in the coming days, ensuring the best possible coverage of the event.

As anticipation builds for the event, media attention underscores the excitement surrounding European athletics. With top athletes preparing to compete and extensive press and broadcast coverage guaranteed, Apeldoorn 2025 is set to be one of the most widely covered editions in recent history.
