The Autumn Open International Cross Country Festival – a World Athletics Cross Country Tour Bronze meeting – provided the perfect stage for Irish athletes to launch their build-up to the Lagoa 2025 SPAR European Cross Country Championships at the Sport Ireland Campus, Dublin on Sunday (19).
Callum Morgan, who has represented Ireland at U23 level on cross country and track, produced a dominant run to claim his first senior men’s victory, breaking clear over the final 2km to win the men's 7km in 24:42. William Fitzgerald was second in 24:53 with Lughaidh Mallon third in 24:57.
Reigning Irish national champion Fiona Everard looked sharp in her season opener, taking victory in the women’s 6km in 20:52, ahead of Britain's India Barwell (21:05) and Ireland's Kirsty Maher (21:07).
Dublin City Harriers retained their Mixed Relay title ahead of Ennis Track, with both clubs booking a place in next year's European Champion Clubs Cup Cross Country.
