Christina Obergföll of Germany won the javelin event at the
Spitzenleichtathletik meeting in Luzern, Switzerland, on Tuesday.
Germany's Christian Obergföll avenged her defeat at the hands of Ukraine's Vira Rebryk at the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki earlier this month, when she beat the Ukrainian at the European Athletics Outdoor Classic Spitzenleichtathletik meeting in Luzern, Switzerland, on Tuesday.
Obergföll, who had to settle for a silver in Helsinki, beat the European champion 62.94 to 61.04.

Russian Olga Kucherenko, a silver medallist at the 2011 World Championships in Daegu, leaped to 6.83m in the long jump to beat a very strong field headed by world champion Brittney Reese of the USA 6.77m and her compatriot Janay DeLoach 6.64m.

American Ginnie Crawford won a high quality 100m hurdles race clocking 12.61 (+0.7), European champion Nevin Yanit of Türkiye finished second in12.73 and both Kellie Wells and Kristi Castlin ran identical time of 12.79 to take the third place.

In the B 100m hurdles race, Beate Schrott delighted Austrian fans with a new national record of 12.82. Schrott, who finished just out of the medals in Helsinki, finished just 0.04 behind the Belgian Anne Zagre (12.79), who also set a national record.

Ukrainian hammer thrower, Oleksyi Sokyrsky, registered an easy win with a throw of 78.66m ahead of Poland's Szymon Ziolkowski 75.57m.
