  • Olympic champion Rogers and global hammer experts set for Coaching Summit in Éaubonne

Some of the world’s leading hammer throw minds including a current Olympic champion will gather in Éaubonne, France, from 14–16 November 2025 for the European Hammer Throw Conference - dedicated to one of track and field’s most technically demanding events.

Part of the European Athletics Coaching Summit Series, the conference will bring together coaches, researchers, and elite throwers to share ideas on performance, biomechanics, and athlete development.

Rogers and Henriksen headline international lineup

The event will feature insights from two of the sport’s most respected active athletes — Camryn Rogers, the reigning world and Olympic champion from Canada, and Eivind Henriksen, Norway’s Tokyo Olympics silver medallist and one of Europe’s most consistent performers over the past decade.

Both will lead practical sessions and contribute to roundtable discussions on evolving hammer throw techniques, mental preparation, and how elite throwers sustain excellence across major championships.

Blending science and experience

The conference programme balances hands-on clinics with technical lectures and applied sports science sessions.

Key presentations will include work from Mohamad Saatara, head coach at the University of California, Berkeley - known for developing multiple world-class throwers, including Rogers herself - and Paul Solberg, a Norwegian researcher and strength coach specialising in force–velocity profiling.

Other contributors include German national coach Michael Deyhle, biomechanical analyst Giuseppe Cecchelli, and French physiotherapist Stéphane Deneux, each offering perspectives on movement efficiency, performance longevity, and biomechanical precision.

A weekend of learning and collaboration

Across the three days, participants will explore everything from youth coaching methods and strength profiling to championship preparation and athlete health. Clinics led by Rogers, Henriksen, and Saatara are expected to be highlights, providing a rare opportunity for coaches and developing athletes to learn directly from current and former world-class performers.

Building the future of hammer throwing

By bringing together expertise from North America and Europe, the European Hammer Throw Conference aims to strengthen international collaboration in hammer throwing - a discipline that thrives on technical mastery and shared innovation.

As the event unfolds in Éaubonne, it promises not just to refine coaching practices but also to inspire the next generation of throwers who will continue pushing the event’s boundaries
