Pole vault star Anna Rogowska will spearhead the
Polish team at the SPAR European Team
Championships in Stockholm.

Poland will be sending a strong team to the 3rd SPAR European Team Championships in Stockholm this weekend that will be looking to improve after finishing fifth in 2009 and sixth in 2010.

Among their leading names are 2008 Olympic Games shot put champion Tomasz Majewski and the 2010 European Athletics Championships discus gold medallist Piotr Malachowski.

Majewski is one of just a handful of athletes who have won on both occasions at first two Championships and will be going to the Swedish capital looking for a hat-trick.

Big points are also expected over two laps of the track from the 2011 European Athletics Indoor Championships 800m gold medallist Adam Kszczot while Poland’s women middle and long distance runners should also finish highly as the team includes: Angelika Cichocka (800 m), Sylwia Ejdys (1500 m), Lidia Chojecka (3000m) and Wioletta Frankiewicz (5000m).

The 2009 pole vault world champion and the 2011 European Athletics Indoor Championships gold medallist Anna Rogowska could also get maximum points.

Others currently in good form and who could be looking for personal best performances if the conditions are helpful include sprinter Dariusz Kuc, who ran a personal best of 10.15 last weekend, javelin thrower Igor Janik and long jumper Teresa Dobija.

As always, the men’s relay squads should also contribute valuable points.

The only negative note is that Anita Wlodarczyk, the 2009 world champion and former world record holder, is still not ready to compete after suffering from an injury earlier this year.

The complete Poland squad is:
