World U20 record breaking decathlete Hubert Trościanka promised even better to come as he was named the men’s Rising Star at the Golden Tracks awards in Batumi, Georgia on Saturday (25).

The Polish athlete took the stage at the glittering ceremony and on accepting his award said:  "I am proud of myself because I am second in my country to get this award."

Previous winners of the prestigious award include Olympic gold medallists Armand Duplantis, Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Karsten Warholm.

Record breaker

Trościanka produced one of the outstanding performances of the athletics season, setting a new men’s U20 decathlon world record of 8514 points as he won gold at the Tampere 2025 European Athletics U20 Championships.

Remarkably in Tampere, he also ran a brilliant 46.21 over 400m, the fastest time every run by an U20 in a decathlon.

Asked on whether he took most satisfaction from the record or the victory, he said: "Gold medal can be many and world record there can be only one. I don’t think about next season, but what I can say it will be a new personal best."

Having won silver at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima last year, the Polish athlete is on an exciting trajectory in the sport in the coming years.
