The Association of Spanish Athletics Statisticians produced the outstanding Statistics Handbook, History of the European Athletics Championships, in 2010 ahead of the last edition of the event in Barcelona.
Having published what was possibly the most extensive and comprehensive piece of literature ever produced about the continent's foremost athletics meeting, the group has been working on a complimentary project for more than a year.
Rumbo a Helsinki 2012 - Great European Athletes provides a statistical analysis of some of the great athletes to have graced the Championships since its inauguration in 1934.

Each edition of the Championships has a chapter devoted to it and their work on the 1994 European Athletics Championships, which were also held in Helsinki, has just been published on the Spanish athletics federation's website.

The 2012 European Athletics Championships will be held in Helsinki, Finland, from 27 June – 1 July.
