Russia won the 2011 SPAR European Team Championships in Stockholm, Sweden, and were crowned as Europe’s top athletics nation on Sunday. They successfully defended their title accumulating a record total of 385 points across the two days, winning by a massive 53.5 points. Germany finished second with 331.5 points while, Ukraine claimed the third spot with 304 points.
Türkiye topped the table at the European Team Championships First League in Izmir with 329 points, while Greece and Norway finished second and third with 307.5 and 290 points respectively. All three teams earned promotion to the top league for the next edition of the championships.
A year after being relegated, Estonia forced their way back into the First League after topping the table at the European Team Championships Second League in Novi Sad, Serbia, on Sunday. They will be joined by Bulgaria who fell short by a mere 2.5 points to finish second with 215.5 points.
In the Third League in Reykjavik, Israel topped the charts with 490 points while Cyprus followed suit with 469 points to earn promotion to the Second League for the next edition.
The bottom three teams in the Super League in Stockholm were relegated to the First League for the next edition of the championships, while the bottom two teams from the First and Second League were also relegated.
