  • Saraboyukov improves Bulgarian long jump record to 8.49m in Plovdiv

Reigning European indoor champion Bozhidar Saraboyukov extended his Bulgarian long jump record to 8.49m on home soil in Plovdiv on Tuesday (14) evening.

All six of Saraboyukov’s jumps were valid and all measured at over 8.00m. His best mark of 8.49m adds four centimetres to his Bulgarian record and moves him to third on the 2026 world list behind Greece’s Miltiadis Tentoglou (8.61m) and Switzerland’s Simon Ehammer (8.51m).

"I've been waiting for this record for a long time this summer. It should have happened earlier, but apparently there's a right time for everything. As I've always said, hard work pays off sooner or later.

"My next long jump start is the European Championships in Birmingham. I hope to go there more confidently and believe in myself more now that I have achieved this result,” he said as quoted by vesti.bg.
