Christina Schwanitz is becoming accustomed to winning gold and at July's European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam she will be chasing a summer hat-trick.
The brilliant German shot putter is planning to defend the title she won in Zurich two years ago, that first major outdoor success taking her onto Beijing where she was crowned world champion last summer.
Her coach Sven Lang has revealed she is set to open her season at the German National Championships in Kassel on 18-19 June ahead of Amsterdam and then the Olympic Games in Rio in August.
Schwanitz is on quite a roll when it comes to making the podium, having achieved five in a row since winning gold at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Gothenburg 2013 with 19.25m.
The same year she was second at the IAAF world championships in Moscow (20.41m) and then won another silver in 2015 at the world indoor championships in Sopot (19.94m).
In between gold in Zurich (19.90m) and Beijing (20.37m), she also produced her personal best of 20.77m at the IAAF world challenge in the Chinese capital.
Germany very much has an eye on Amsterdam, and with the main road race season now at an end, they have named their teams for the half marathon event at the European Athletics Championships which is being staged on 10 July, the final day of action in the Netherlands.
Arne Gabius, who is seventh on this year's European Athletics half marathon rankings (62:45), leads the men while the women's squad includes Sabrina Mockenhaupt, the European 10,000m Cup champion from 2013 and Katharina Heinig, the daughter of 1988 Olympic marathon bronze medallist Katrin Dorre-Heinig.
