Great Britain’s Isabelle Boffey slashed almost two seconds off her outright 800m lifetime best with a 1:57.43 800m clocking at the BU Terrier Classic in Boston, United States on Friday (30).
A prolific youngster who won European 800m titles at U18, U20 and U23 level, Boffey moves to eighth on the world indoor all-time list, just two places behind 2024 Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson who holds the British indoor 800m record with 1:57.18.
Boffey passed through 600m just behind US champion Roisin Willis in 1:27.89 before unleashing a last lap of 29.54 for a breakthrough victory ahead of Willis who set a national record 1:57.97.
This was the first time Boffey has broken the 2:00-barrier indoors and the 25-year-old also smashes her outright lifetime best of 1:59.30 which was set in Madrid in 2023.
Her British teammate Katie Snowden also won the 3000m in 8:39.89.
