Norway’s Sander Skotheim has been confirmed as the winner of the men’s competition in the 2025 World Athletics Combined Events Tour, it was announced on Friday (10).

Following his disappointment at the Tokyo World Athletics Championships — where a disqualification in the 110m hurdles scuppered his chances — the title provides some consolation for Skotheim, who has enjoyed an otherwise brilliant season.

During the indoor season, he claimed gold in the heptathlon at both the World Indoor and European Athletics Indoor Championships, the latter with a brilliant European record of 6558 points in Apeldoorn.

National record in decathlon

He carried his winning form into the outdoor season, taking victory at the prestigious Hypo-Meeting in Götzis, where he won the decathlon with a new Norwegian record of 8909 points before his mishap in Tokyo.

Skotheim collects a US$30,000 prize for his efforts, with a total of 3754 points — calculated using the world rankings formula.

Switzerland’s European indoor silver medallist Simon Ehammer finished fourth in the men’s standings with 3633 points, while USA’s world heptathlon champion Anna Hall took the women’s crown.
