Spain has named a team of 40 athletes for the SPAR European Cross Country Championships in Tilburg on 9 December.
Spain won two senior medals at the 2017 European Cross Country Championships in Samorin, Slovakia last December when Adel Mechaal won an individual silver medal and led Spain to team silver.
The Spanish team will be fielding another strong senior men’s team with aspirations of challenging for both individual medals and a tenth team title in championship history.

As well as Mechaal, the team also includes European 3000m steeplechase silver medallist Fernando Carro and other well-known internationals Antonio Abadia, Javier Guerra, Juan Antonio Perez and Daniel Mateo, who was eighth last year.
The senior women’s team is headed by Trihas Gebre who has finished inside the top-15 at the last four editions of the European Cross Country Championships and inside the top-20 at the last two World Cross Country Championships.
There will also be medal chances in the mixed relay. The Spanish team is headed by world indoor 800m bronze medallist Saul Ordonez, who improve the Spanish record to 1:43.65 during the summer campaign.
