  • Spotted on social | Warholm takes to the ice, Bol reveals indoor plans, and Dosso takes us back in time

We are in the deep depths of the indoor season now, but there has also been some pretty cool, funny, and sad moments online too.

Whether it be news of athletes’ upcoming plans, or some never before seen activities, take a look at some of the notable moments from European athletes on social media in the last week.

Who needs warm weather training?

While many other athletes took January as an opportunity to do some warm weather training, Karsten Warholm has done the complete opposite.

The Norwegian took his training to the ice, where he trained with hurdles made from ice, and took a very literal ice bath – crazy.

And we thought we’d seen everything, joke's on us!

Bol reveals indoor season plans

After her surprising announcement in October that she would be running the 800m in 2026, Femke Bol has revealed what her first two indoor competitions of the season will be.

She’ll be making her 800m debut on 8 February at Meeting de Metz, France, before competing again on 19 February over 600m at Meeting Pas-de-Calais.

Hassan will return to London

The three-time Olympic champion and two-time world champion will return to London for the marathon in April.

She made her marathon debut in London in 2023, winning the elite race after stopping to stretch her leg just under halfway through.

Hassan also returned to the iconic race in 2025 and placed third behind Tigist Assefa, who set a women-only world record, and Joyciline Jepkosgei.

“We out here in Miamiiii”

German javeline thrower Julian Weber shared some insights into his time in Miami, from good food to good moves – he shared it all!

But in typical athlete fashion, he just couldn’t help but practice his javelin movement while enjoying the beach.

Tribute to your younger self

Zaynab Dosso took us back to her first national final in 2013, where she stormed to victory, before snapping us back to the current day.

She shared her gratitude to her younger self that never gave up, and reflected on the journey she has taken to get to where she is now.

Injury strikes already

Sander Skotheim has had to pull out of the indoor season due to obtaining and injury to his ankle during training.

He will require surgery, but has his eyes set on the outdoor season still as he hopes to top the podium at the Birmingham 2026 European Athletics Championships.

Hammer throw royalty meets South African giants

The hammer throw world record holder, Anita Wlodarczyk, shared her newest friends with us all on Instagram, only they have extremely long necks and eat leaves.

Wlodarczyk is in South Africa for a training camp ahead of the outdoor season where she will attempt to make her seventh European Athletics Championships, having won the title four times previously.

Gratitude for an indoor season

Every athlete has their opinions on the indoor season, whether they love or hate it, but for Jake Wightman this indoor season could not be a better opportunity.

Having struggled with a nearly endless string of injuries since he won gold at the 2022 Eugene World Athletics Championships, being able to compete indoors this year is something he is certain he won’t take for granted.
