  • Summit Series set for another big year

European Athletics has announced the four conferences that will make up its 2011 Coaching Summit Series and extended its popular offer of scholarships to help Member Federations send coaches to take part.

The series, which is now in its fourth year, comprises the following four conferences:

  • 1st European Decathlon Conference: Tallinn, Estonia, on 5-6 October
  • 1st European Endurance Conference: London, England, on 8-9 October
  • European Horizontal Jumps & Hurdles Symposium: Falun, Sweden on 11-13 November
  • European Shot Put & Javelin Throw Symposium: Tanhuvaara, Finland on 11-13 November

Each conference will include presentations, practical and training session demonstrations, small group workshops, round table discussions, and plenty of opportunities for the participants to exchange ideas on all aspects of their event with colleagues and stars from around the world.

The main aim of the series is to improve top-level performance in the various events by bringing together top athletes, leading coaches and sport scientists at venues where there is specific expertise or a strong tradition in a particular event. The conferences staged in the first three years of the series have attracted more than 1,100 participants.

All European Athletics Member Federations are eligible for two scholarships, worth CHF 400 each, which can be applied towards the travel and accommodation costs of sending participants to any of the 2011 measures.

The scholarships can also be applied to the 2011 International Festival of Athletics Coaching, which will be staged in Glasgow, Scotland, 28-30 October.
