More than 50,000 runners have already registered for the forthcoming SuperHalfs series, six famous half marathon road races taking place in some of the continent’s most iconic cities.
The latest edition of the series launched in 2022, starts next month in the Danish capital Copenhagen on Sunday 15 September.
The races are among the fastest and most scenic in the world and consist of the following races:
- Copenhagen Half Marathon, 15 September 2024
- Principality Building Society Cardiff Half Marathon, 6 October 2024
- Valencia Half Marathon Trinidad Alfonso Zurich, 27 October 2024
- EDP Lisbon Half Marathon, 9 March 2025
- Prague Half Marathon, 5 April 2025
- Generali Berlin Half Marathon, 6 April 2025
In the first six months of 2024, the number of registrants has increased by 20,000 on the previous year. SuperHalfs is originally an idea created by Carlo Capalbo and managed by RunCzech. It offers runners a unique adventure and a chance to run a half marathon in six beautiful European cities.
Fast courses
The SuperHalfs races are also uniformly fast and record-breaking. Both the current men’s and women’s half marathon world records were set on SuperHalfs courses.
Uganda's Jacob Kiplimo set the men’s world record of 57:31 at the 2021 Lisbon race and, in the same year, Ethiopia's Letesenbet Gidey broke the women’s record with a time of 1:02:52 in Valencia. Prague and Copenhagen have also played host to world record performances in recent years.
The speed of each course is also reflected achievements of recreational, non-professional, runners.
Men, who make up 59% of the SuperHalfs participants, have an average time of 1:55 and women have an average of 2:13.
SuperHalfs are partner races of the inaugural European Running Championships which will take place 12-13 April, in the cities of Brussels and Leuven, Belgium. The inaugural European Running Championships will feature a variety of races, including the marathon, half marathon, and 10km.
