The fans at the Super League of the European Athletics Team Championships in Braunschweig will see some of the biggest stars in the sport because this event is so much a path to glory.

Nine Olympic or World champions will be in action this weekend while 15 winners from last year's European Athletics Team Championships Super League in Gateshead went on to make the podium at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow a few weeks later.

It is now less than two months until these competitors will be at the European Athletics Championships in Zurich in August and how many will be successful there after winning their event in Braunschweig?

History says quite a few of them and here is the recent roll of honour:
