What a first day at Birmingham 2026!
The loudest cheer of the evening came when Amy Hunt was crowned Europe’s fastest woman in front of her home crowd. Jakob Ingebrigtsen also successfully defended his European title in the 5000m, producing an impressive performance to take the gold.
Leonardo Fabbri and Jessica Schilder both defended their shot put titles, while Norway claimed their first gold medal of the championships in the mixed 4x400m relay.
