With the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Prague from 6-8 March fast approaching, it is now possible to purchase tickets for the biggest athletics event the Czech Republic has seen since the European Athletics Championships were staged in Prague 37 years ago.
'The number of first category tickets – the best seats being offered – is very limited. Only approximately 700 tickets will go to sale. So those who want to secure the best places should not hesitate to buy them early,' says Libor Varhaník, President of the LOC of the 2015 European Athletics Indoor Championships.
'We deliberately chose to make the ticket prices affordable to the general public. Profits from ticket sales are not crucial for us. We would like to sell out the tickets because the atmosphere of the championship is very important for us,' added Varhaník.
'As the European Athletics Indoor Championships are the top athletics event in the Czech Republic for 37 long years, we believe that the interest from fans to see the top European and Czech athletes in fight for medals on home soil will be great,' says the head of the European Athletics Indoor Championships ambassador project, Mrs. Helena Fibingerová.
'I think that Czechs love sports, they love to cheer and they will not miss this unique opportunity. I experienced myself the atmosphere of big competitions and would be glad see other Czech athletes enjoy the cheering audience at home; and not just our athletic stars but also young athletes, who should be very motivated by the indoor championship in Prague,' says the eightfold world champion and world record holder in the shot put.
The programme starts on Thursday 5 March with the shot put and long jump qualifications, it then continues with the opening ceremony, which will also be broadcasted live on Czech Television.
At the moment, fans can purchase tickets for Friday and the weekend programme, tickets for the Thursday session and the opening ceremony will be available later.
'It is possible to buy the tickets for Friday and Saturday, separately for the morning and afternoon sessions. For Sunday, it is a single price for the entire final block.' explains Tomáš Jank…¯, the executive director of the European Athletics Indoor Championships.
