Promotion contenders Türkiye have named their team captains for the Maribor 2025 European Athletics Team Championships 2nd Division which takes place on 28-29 June in Slovenia.
Their bid to return to the top tier of continental team track and field athletics will be spearheaded by Tuğba Danışmaz and Ramil Guliyev.
Both athletes have significant international pedigree, Danışmaz won silver in the women’s triple jump at last year’s Roma 2024 European Athletics Championships and delivered gold for a thrilled home support at the Istanbul 2023 European Athletics Indoor Championships.
Now 35, Guliyev won 200m gold at the London 2017 World Athletics Championships and the Berlin 2018 European Athletics Championships and will be hoping to inspire younger team-mates towards promotion.
Tickets are still available for the 3rd Division and 2nd Division matches in Maribor from 24-29 June.
