As part of a bumper weekend of live streaming, European Athletics will also be streaming the Track Night Vienna on Saturday (20) from 7.35pm and the Tag der Überflieger in Essen on Saturday (20) from 4.55pm and Sunday (21) from 1.45pm (all times CEST.)
European 10,000m champion Dominic Lobalu from Switzerland is among the star entrants for the Track Night Vienna, a World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger event, on Saturday (20) when he contests the 5000m.
Lobalu, who has broken the one hour-barrier for the half marathon twice already in 2026, is the fastest entrant with a lifetime best and Swiss record of 12:50.87. He faces opposition from Burundi’s Egide Ntakarutimana (12:59.45 PB) and South Africa’s Maxime Chaumeton (13:06.00 PB).
The women’s 800m could provide a glimpse into the future of European 800m running. The line-up is headed by the hugely promising 16-year-old Slovenian Ziva Remic who clocked 1:59.64 in Pfungstadt last weekend and is eligible for next month’s European Athletics U18 Championships in Rieti.

Remic, who also won silver at the European Athletics U20 Championships, faces a familar field including Italy’s Lorenza de Noni and Spain’s Marta Mitjans who finished third and fourth respectively behind Remic in that final.
There will be a strong Spanish theme to the men’s 800m with Pablo Sanchez Valladares, Elvin Josue Canales and Ronaldo Olivo all due to compete while European fifth-placer Nathalie Blomqvist from Finland continues her comeback from injury in the women’s 5000m against a field including Kenya’s Caroline Gitonga.
Strong jumps field confirmed for Essen
World indoor champion Gerson Balde from Portugal faces a strong field in the men’s long jump at the Tag der Überflieger in Essen, a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meeting, which takes place across the weekend.
The line-up also includes former world indoor and outdoor champion Luvo Manyonga from South Africa who is on the comeback trail along with Germany’s Luka Herden and Finland's Kristian Pulli.
A strong men’s high jump field has also been assembled featuring 2022 European silver medallist Tobias Potye who faces two excellent youngsters on home soil: reigning European U20 champion Elijah Pasquier from France and 18-year-old Algerian Younes Ayachi who has already cleared 2.28m this year.
2022 world high jump champion Eleanor Patterson from Australia will also be in action in Essen against leading Germans Christina Honsel and Imke Onnen as well as 2023 European U23 champion Elena Kulichenko from Cyprus.

Other leading international names who have been announced for Essen include two-time world indoor medallist Yasser Mohammed Triki from Algeria in the men’s triple jump and Cuba’s Davisleydi Velazco in the women’s triple jump.
Both athletes will face strong French competition in their respective competitions. Triki faces France’s Melvin Raffin while Velazco faces European bronze medallist Ilionis Guillaume, Bulgaria’s Gabriela Petrova and Germany’s Caroline Joyeux.
2022 European silver medallist Bo Kanda Lita Baehre will also be in contention for victory on home soil in the men's pole vault.
