Greece’s Miltiadis Tentoglou and Great Britain’s Jazmin Sawyers headline the fields for the Piraeus Street Long Jump, a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meeting, on Sunday (28) evening.
The Piraeus Street Long Jump will be streamed on the European Athletics YouTube channel from 6.20pm CEST (7.20pm local time) without any geoblocking restrictions and will be accompanied by expert English-language commentary.
Who’s competing?
Tentoglou is one of three world champions to be assembled for the men’s long jump. The Greek hero faces Jamaica's Tajay Gayle and the in-form Luvo Manyonga from South Africa, the world champions in 2019 and 2017 respectively.
The men’s line-up features eight athletes with season's best in excess of eight metres. Other notable Europeans in the line-up include 2021 European indoor bronze medallist Kristian Pulli from Finland and Germany's Olympic sixth-placer Simon Batz.
In the women’s competition, Sawyers faces a strong Romanian contingent including Ramona Elena Verman and Alina Rotaru-Kottmann who recently finished first and second respectively at the Balkan Championships which were also held on Greek soil in Volos.
Verman, who also won the European U23 title last year, has the longest season’s best courtesy of her winning jump of 6.78m from the Balkan Championships.
Serbia’s Milica Gardasevic, who won this meeting in 2023, is also on the start-list.
