Twice European U23 champion Blessing Afrifah will carry the hopes of the home crowd at the Grand Slam Jerusalem in Israel on Thursday (24 July).
The 200m specialist is the local favourite at the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meeting, which will be live streamed on the European Athletics YouTube channel from 18:00 CEST.
Twice African long jump champion Cheswill Johnson has successfully turned his attention to sprinting this year, clocking 10.02 for 100m and 20.49 for 200m. He is expected to provide Afrifah's strongest challenge.
Johnson will also contest the men's 100m, where fellow South African Marko Ferreira (PB: 10.04), Poland's Dominik Kopeć (PB: 10.05) and Bulgaria's Hristo Iliev (PB: 10.22) are among the leading contenders.
The men's discus should also produce a high-quality contest, with Cyprus' Iosif Michalis Papa, Hungary's János Huszák and Greek record-holder Dimitrios Pavlidis closely matched on paper.
Other international stars to watch include Dutch women's 100m hurdles champion Maayke Tjin A-Lim, Moldova's former world U20 and European U20 champion Alexandra Emilianov in the women's discus, and Poland's three-time Olympian Damian Czykier in the men's 110m hurdles.
