The Apeldoorn 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships are within a month and many prospective medal contenders will be in action on Saturday at live streamed events in Metz and Hustopece.
Meeting Metz Moselle Athlelor (World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver)

Excellent sprint and middle distance fields have been assembled for Meeting Metz Moselle on Saturday afternoon.
Some of the highlights include a rematch of the World Athletics Indoor Championships final between Ethiopia’s Tsige Duguma and Great Britain’s Jemma Reekie in the 800m while European 10,000m champion Dominic Lobalu drops down in distance to contest the 3000m against a field including European 10,000m silver medallist Yann Schrub and a strong Ethiopian contingent including Getnet Wale, the fourth fastest performer in history indoors with 7:24.98.
And a massive Dutch cohort will also be in action in Metz on the road to the Apeldoorn 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships. World and European indoor silver medallist Lieke Klaver will be in action in the 200m and 400m and will face strong fields in both events, including Australia’s Torrie Lewis in the 200m and Great Britain’s Laviai Nielsen and Ireland’s Sharlene Mawdsley in the 400m.
Eugene Omalla and Isaya Klein Ikkink, both of whom were part of the Dutch gold medal-winning team in the mixed 4x400m at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, will be in action in the individual 400m along with the likes of the Swiss duo of Lionel Spitz and Ricky Petrucciani and European indoor silver medallist Julien Watrin from Belgium who is returning to top level competition after being diagnosed with cancer last year.
Two-time European indoor champion Nadine Visser from the Netherlands takes on in-form Laeticia Bapte, a winner in Miramas and Val-de-Reuil in recent days, in the 60m hurdles.
Hustopečské Skákání (World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver)

Seven athletes with 2.30m-plus lifetime bests will jump in the men’s competition in Hustopece including last year’s runner-up Sanghyeok Woo from South Korea who finished second on countback at 2.33m. Woo faces a line-up including Ukraine’s Oleh Doroshchuk and Czech favourite Jan Stefela who won in Trinec on Wednesday with a 2.30m clearance to equal the world lead.
In the women’s competition, 2022 world champion Eleanor Patterson from Australia takes on a field including world fourth-placer Morgan Lake from Great Britain who cleared a national record of 1.99m at this meeting in 2023. Last year’s winner Tatiana Gusin from Greece also competes.
