Christine Bertram of Great Britain will attend the 2011 SPAR European Team Championships in Stockholm, Sweden, as a special guest of the organisers after winning the second European Athletics Women Leaders in Athletics survey lottery.
The lucky lady completed the three-part on-line survey about attitudes towards women and women leaders in athletics, which is part of a European Union-funded project entitled ‘Closing the Leadership Gender Gap in European Athletics’, and was automatically entered in the random draw.
Together with an accompanying person, she will receive flights, hotel accommodation and tickets to attend the two days of the European Team Championships.
“Thank you for the fantastic news!” said Bertram, “Your e-mail really made my day!”
In addition to the grand prizes, two trips for two to the 2011 European Athletics Indoor Championships were already awarded earlier this year, and additional prizes of European Athletics merchandise have been awarded to the lucky participants. In total 16 winners were randomly selected and will receive their prizes in the upcoming weeks.
More than 2,000 people from 38 European countries have already responded, and even though prizes were distributed, the survey remains open.
