Reigning world 10,000m champion Jimmy Gressier spearheads a strong French team for the European 10,000m Cup in La Spezia, Italy on 23 May.
Gressier, who recently broke the European 5km record with 12:51 in Lille, hasn’t competed at the European 10,000m Cup since winning gold on home soil in Pacé in 2022 in 27:24.51. He also led France to the team title.
France will arrive in La Spezia with strong ambitions of winning team gold again. The team also includes Valentin Gondouin, who won half marathon bronze behind Gressier at the 2025 European Running Championships last April, along with fellow long-time French internationals Bastien Augusto, Simon Bedard and Fabien Palcau.
The sole French entrant for the women’s race is French half marathon record-holder Alessia Zarbo who finished second at the 2025 European 10,000m Cup in Pacé behind Belgium’s Jana Van Lent.
The 2026 European 10,000m Cup will be streamed live with English-language commentary on the European Athletics YouTube channel.
