In his first race since winning men’s 1500m gold at the Tokyo World Athletics Championships, Isaac Nader logged an impressive victory on the road at the Berango International Mile on Saturday (11).

The Portuguese runner ran clear to win in 4:17 ahead of Spanish duo Carlos Saez (4:18) and Abderrahman El Khayami (4:21). 

Spain’s European 5000m bronze medallist Marta García won the women’s race in 4:49 over fellow Spaniards Esther Guerrero and Miriam Costa, who were both clocked at 4:51.

Serrano wins in Jaén 

One day later, in Jaén on Sunday (12), Spain's European U23 3000m steeplechase silver medallist Spain’s Marta Serrano ensured a home victory the Manuel Pancorbo International Road Mile in 4:47 ahead of international teammate Esther Guerrero (4:50) and 18-year-old Marta Mitjans (4:51). 

In another Spanish 1-2-3, Ignacio Fontes won the men’s race in 4:12 from European 800m silver medallist Mohamed Attaoui and Víctor Ruiz, who were both timed at 4:13.
