World shot put champion Jessica Schilder showed she is in excellent form ahead of the Birmingham 2026 European Athletics Championships, taking place from 10–16 August, by winning her eighth successive title at the Dutch Athletics Championships in Hengelo on Saturday (25 July) with a mighty throw of 20.58m.
The Dutch athlete will be aiming for her third successive European title in Birmingham, where she will start as one of the Netherlands' leading contenders for gold.
She is likely to be joined at the European Athletics Championships by several other impressive winners in cold and wet conditions in Hengelo.
These include two-time European indoor champion Nadine Visser, who won the 100m hurdles in 12.66; world discus silver medallist Jorinde van Klinken, who won the women's discus with 65.12m; and Nsikak Ekpo, who won the men's 100m in a personal best of 10.00 (1.5m/s).
