European U23 champion Jonas Phijffers set a new Dutch indoor record for the men’s 400m, winning at the Invitatiewedstrijd in Apeldoorn on Sunday (22) in 45.35.

It was quicker than European record holder Atilla Molnar of Hungary, who ran in a separate heat to victory in 45.36, ahead of Olympic mixed 4x400m gold medallist Isaya Klein Ikkink (46.03).

The event was combined with the Dutch age group championships and saw Eljahro Tyrone Philipsen equalled his own European U18 best of 7.58 in the men’s 60m hurdles (91cm).

There were also Dutch U20 records set by Jim Putter in the men’s 60m hurdles (99cm) with 7.67 and Felicia Felter in the women’s long jump with 6.37m.
