European Athletics have officially ratified the time of 58:31 by Sweden’s Andreas Almgren on 26 October in Valencia as a European Record for the men’s half marathon.
The Swedish Athletics Federation have been notified via correspondence from European Athletics CEO Christian Milz.
Almgren has enjoyed a superb year, winning 10,000m bronze at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo and also setting a European record in the men’s 5000m (12:44.27) at the Stockholm Diamond League on 15 June.
In setting a new half marathon record, he also became the first European athlete to break 59 minutes for the distance.
