  • Anning to battle Jackson over 300m at Miramar Invitational in Florida

Former world indoor champion and British record holder Amber Anning will continue her outdoor season against a deep field at The Miramar Invitational on 4 April.

Anning will be competing in the rarely contested 300m which she hasn’t ran in competition since 2017 when she clocked 37.79.

Initially Anning had planned to complete the indoor season, but he focus shifted to outdoors following the UK Indoor Championships, where she placed third.

Shericka Jackson is the big favourite for the women's 300m as the former world and Olympic champion continues her 2026 season after opening with a 52.04 400m in Kingston.

In Florida, at the World Athletics Challenger Tour meeting, she will also be racing against America’s Rosey Effiong, Alexis Holmes, and Britton Wilson.

The 300m British record is still held by Olympic, world, and European medallist Kathy Cook, with a time of 35.46 set in 1984 – a mark Anning will surely have her eye on.

This summer Anning could also make her senior European Athletics Championships debut in Birmingham having previously won gold at the Boras 2019 European Athletics U20 Championships.
